Hi

Looking to build a ring nut installation tool from a old DT swiss 240s star ratchet.

Anyone got and old 240 freehub star ratchet laying around?

Thanks

Brett

Installation is easy and can be tool-free.......its the removal that needs a special (ridiculously overpriced) tool. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you want to do.

I have DT Swiss hubs but no spare bits

Yip,  the overpriced tool is what I am trying to avoid...

So going to try use one of the 2 star ratchets from a old freehub to make a removal tool.

Even buying new replacement star ratchets works out cheaper than the tool....

I thought of doing the same.  However you often need some real, real, force to loosen the ring.  I didn't think I would be able to weld the ratchet on to anything strong enough to last.  The tool I have was made by a gear cutter out of a piece of stainless bar. Perhaps you can get an engineering co. to make you one by copying your ratchet?  Needs to be able to clamp in a vice.
