Hi there is about 4km of single track on the 80km race.  It is mostly district farm roads otherwise.

We are trying to bring in a section on one of the farms that will be sheep paths (sort of single track) as well.

Here is a little promo made from last years race

We are positive for an even bigger turn-up than last year.  We already have more online entries than we had last year and expect the total number of riders to once again be more than 300.

Timing will be done by Great Time

The route is primarily farm roads.  Also note we have changed the start route of the race a bit and the mid part this year round.  The start will be closer along the river and not straight away next to the railway line like last year.  The long stretch on the Kopperfontein road have been reduced quite a bit as we as will be going through the farms instead this year

So, Mr CK, how much sand? I cannot handle sand, anything, mud, snow, ice, but not sand.

On the 80km there will be one spot in the begining of the race that might be sandy.  About a 500m section.  Usually it is loose because of the livestock walking through there but we have arrange to keep them out this week and gonna try to water down the section to try and get the sand to get some kind of solidness to it.  Other than that is should be what you would expect from a farm road.

The 50km will have the above section and another 100m or so midway after the split of the long and medium route and the Kopperfontein link up.

I will be there, gonna give this race a try. Nothing else this weekend. I am on my annual leave, so see you there.

what a fantastic 80 odd km ride this morning. weather was perfect and vibe great. some awesome prizes too! thanks Willem and team for all the hard work. will definitely be back next year.

Thanks Willem for paying my family's entrance fee when they tried to re-enter the sports field this morning. We had no idea that supporters were meant to pay.
