This might seem like a no brainer to some but here is my scenario.

I have a nicely speced 26er HT, 3x10 ful slx

I also have a SS HT 29er.

Can I transfer all the stuff ( brakes, crank, cassette, chain etc from the 26er to 29 er and visa versa?

Yes. Problem areas might be different BB or BB width. Brake hoses not long enough. Front dérailleur mounting... but all that means is a bit of extra effort/cash to get it done.

I assume cable routing is the same on both frames with respect to FD? I.e. both top pull or down pull and both seat tubes the same diameter?

If the FD is not transferable it isn't too expensive to buy one.

Regarding brakes, the bigger wheels exert more leverage on the disc/caliper so it is common but not essential to go up a disc size on a 29er frame, especially in front and if you are a heavier rider. If your discs are 160mm and you weigh over 80kg then consider going to 180 in front at least. It only requires a spacer bracket and the bigger disc.

I did just that recently moving from a Morewood Zula 26 (650b convert) to a pugs 11029er. Needed a longer rear brake hose and gear cable and a direct mount FD as the only change.
