I dont think srams makes a 11-42 (Shimano does) GX=SRAM

Where did you get the bcd's ?

According to the internet. Shimano is 96 and sram is 94. Coffee pending

Edit. Build the two groups in seperate tabs off CRC for comparison.

other way round, but I suspect its's the lack of coffee talking... :P

GX = SRAM, XT = Shimano...

The Shimano cassette is still cheaper by a fair margin - approx 30% or so (on CRC, at least) and for me, changing to SRAM cassette would mean a wheelset rebuild and new hub as well, so in that respect the cassette will have to be Shimano's 11-42.

I'm basing that on my personal needs - I don't tend to run out of gears going down (too slow) but I do run out on the way up (too slow, again)

a mix and match would probably suit me best. But I'd like the switching gear to be SRAM... For now.

Not really, you get freehubs for most hubs now so that is the only thing you need to change

I'm going to use my existing crank... bno problem there.

Not on the one I have, unfortunately.

It's an excuse for an upgrade, at least.

what hub do you have?

Well, it's a hub I WILL have. Giant tracker. Already searched for compatability, and all there is is a tweet from Giant back in 2013, saying nope.

There's a more recent tweet to ask them regarding compatability, but no response yet.

Unless you know something I don't?

Funny that they dont have a compatability list somewhere. But nope I don't know anything you don't know

So you just wasted the LBS's time. You could have just called CCS yourself and posted here saying you just called them etc.

It's best to let the LBS call in rather.

That way the LBS can provide you with our order schedule, the shipment arrival week along with expected pricing and the availability.
