lefty vs Conventional fork

The new Hybrid Lefties have a lower bush with shorter needle bearing races further up the structure than on previous versions.

The bush is the main reason for the added stiction the new Lefty's suffer from.

Main reason for the hybrid change was to create more oil volume to improve the damping consistency. By moving the bearings further up they freed up space in the lower leg for more oil volume.

Next development is to regain the suppleness that previous Lefty's had.
