Duties regarding CRC overseas orders

Kind of related question:

 

There is a big discrepancy between the price of items in ZAR vs other currencies (e.g. AUD).

 

1000 ZAR difference on a frame for instance..

 

Do you think I can buy something in AUD (since I have an Aus account) and have it shipped to South Africa?

 

Or is that breaking some trade law?

The ZAR price shown on the CRC website has nothing to do with what you catually pay. Thats up to your bank/credit card

The amount that I paid was real close to the displayed amount on CRC, the costs on this side were almost 45% in total. still cheaper than local in the end.

As far as i know, if you use Paypal you dont pay the 2% or 3% international charge.

What REALLY bugs me is the "handling fee" charged by DHL this side when you've already paid in full for courier.

Would that rate be the same on a Groupo?

 

I found a set of Dura Ace Di2 for R28 800 at Evans (cheapest in SA was R36k and 3 week wait), but was worried about duties on it, so didn't buy.

 

Check with the guys @ Cycle Tech.

I received a sms a few weeks ago referencing a special on Di2.

I can't remember detail, but I think it was competitive relative to what you've stated.
