  1. Oh yeah, sorry about the magpies and possums over there Magpies are sooo annoying this time of year... only a few more weeks to go though!
  2. never buy bike stuff with credit cards, thats just a recipe for disaster. also kids take up too much time and money that could be spent on bikes.
  3. 2.4 contis are a little bit narrower than other 2.4s BUT are very tall tyres. I run them on a 25mm internal rim (Flow EX) which gives them a good profile. I personally wouldn't go any narrower As an aside it is funny how not long ago I used to consider Flow EXs as wide, now they look very narrow compared the i35s I've got on my other bike.
  4. Its like a Range fell out of a tree and hit every branch on the way down. Were the Norco dudes drunk that day?

    Wider bars

Ive got 740 and 760 on my two bikes, and even that small jump I notice the difference... I tend to scrape my knuckles on trees and look awkward going through gates with the latter and its just 10mm either side. Not sure I want to go too much wider, even if it had other advantages
  6. koeksisters I never got into, but this thread has me missing mosbolletjies now. mmmmmm winey bread with butter
  7. Yip, Saguaro is a solid choice that lasts a very long time Maxxis Ardent Race also good (currently using). Next rear will be Maxxis Aggressor to see how that goes - slower than the Ardent race, but a bit more bite which is fine by me
  8. NZ is definitely safer in summer. Less fires and no snakes We've got plenty more sheep in Aus, but in NZ I think you get more per person http://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/agribusiness/sheep/the-ratio-of-person-to-sheep-in-new-zealand-has-dropped/news-story/1a6dbd5575198cb0e70ccb5c2b857f22 South Africans have been saying it for years!
  9. I've got the 2R MIPS but not with a chin bar. I was just going to buy the chin bar later, but recently been reading that the chin bar isn't that great (and isn't downhill rated if thats a thing for you). Otherwise its a great trail helmet though, nice protection around back of head, but mixed reports if it fits or not - luckily it fits me well when many other helmets don't (661, POC etc I can't wear). I'm probably going to just get a separate full face now, rather than convertible, but will check out the Giro once it hits the stores.
  10. http://14761-presscdn-0-15.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/FOCUS-JAM-C-FACTORY.jpg There, I fixed it. Now that will be € 4999
  11. I really want to get a Brooks for my steel frame - and matching grips... Only because they look amazing.
  12. flats flats flats. only downside to flats is that your shins develop a nice set of scars..
  13. Merida has a new One Sixty 5000 coming out http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Merida-One-Sixty-2017Advance-Traders-MY17-4324.jpg http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Merida-One-Sixty-2017Advance-Traders-MY17-4343-1.jpg But this new Range is http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Norco-Range-2017Advance-Traders-MY17-4260.jpg And its just the Alu version...
  14. Yep, its a ridiculous amount of strife we put on South Africans for coming here, where NZ is much more chill about it. Going through it all with my SA partner now, but we're almost there (and for permanent residence visa). I'm starting to suggest to South African friends planning the Aus move to really consider NZ now, get your citizenship there and then decide. So, apologies for the Australian visa and migration system - it reflects badly on us. Or maybe its a good example of the difference between Aussies and Kiwis!
  15. fast forward 2 years and the wiggle/chain reaction deal makes them the biggest and often cheapest and quickest way to get stuff to your door.
  16. more embarrassing than anything... I train boxing - still a beginner so its lots of fitness drills and partner work. One common drill is to string 10 punches together, run across gym and do sit-ups or pushups or whatever, run back and do 8, then 6 etc. Somehow lost my feet when going from run to sit-up and my whole leg twisted around as I hit the deck. thought I'd done my knee in actually, and it wasn't until the next day when the knee pain had subsided did I realise my toe was all banged up too. and yeah, was in front of about 20 people so kinda sheepishly sat at the corner nursing my knee with ice when I should have been looking at my toe. its not as bad as the OP though - just funny seeing a thread about it... I have gross/weird feet but here it is now that the swelling has gone down....
  17. Must be something in the air... I also landed weirdly on my big toe at the gym and its a bit purple now...
  18. "Blue and Green should never be seen without a colour in between"
  19. there are colour schemes, and then there is..... http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13477528/p5pb13477528.jpg
  20. Its probably going to come down to colour Contacts look awesome, but way too many negative reviews now that I've had a bit of a look online
  21. Bag: Osprey Momentum/ Syncro series I've got the Momentum 30 and its ideal for carrying work stuff + lunch + change of clothes. This also includes a laptop - but if you don't need that they offer smaller sizes in the Syncro range. Osprey has a really nice Airspeed / Airscape ventilation systems that work well. Also use the bag as carry on for air travel and have crammed enough for a weekend trip in it too. Lights: spend a bit more and get something from Exposure. Really good build quality and will outlast the cheap Chinese ebay deals eg: http://www.exposurelights.com/images/ULS000049/detail-03.jpg
  22. I also gave up on my RS reverb after a couple of rebuilds and gone back to normal seat post... Have a KS on my other bike, its OK but its still new so will see how it goes.
