Felt Q720 or Giant Alias 2008?

Im looking to buy my first decent mountain bike. So far the best value for money i could find was :

 

 

 

1) Felt Q720 with Rockshox Dart 2 and hydr discs. (for R5850)

 

2) Giant Alias 2008 with Rockshox Dart 2 and Hydr Discs. (for R5950)

 

Does anyone have any better suggestions and which one of the 2 is best? How's the RockShox Dart 2, would it outlast lets say the Karoo to Coast?Swartkat2008-04-08 13:46:50

Also look at Merida Sub 60-D and Silverback Nabraska.

Swartkat, per haps I can point you in a slightly different direction. The question you need to ask, is: "Which bike fits ME best?".

 

The components will wear over time, you will upgrade in any event, or you might even find that Mtbiking is just not for you after a couple of faceplants in a proper rockgarden.

 

But the answer to which is the better bike remains linked to whether the bike fits YOU.  And ultimately, whether you like the bike.

 

It really is that simple.

OK, that makes sense, but I just want to know in general how Giant and Felt frames compare in terms of quality, etc. I would like to know a bit more about the merida and Silverback Nebraska frame quality as well. hope someone can help me with this...

Yip, fit is most important. Merida was not comfortable for me but the Giant was. So I bought a Raleigh RM4.
