38 degrees forcasted for Sat.

Unlike last year which started off cool and drizzling.

Just means you need to spend more time at those well-stocked water tables.......and the forest is always way cool.

Take your cozzie along for a splash in the dam after the race.

Agreed. Great race with some unforgiving yet character building climbs. One climb up a mounting lasted a good 5km. Total elevation gain on the 40km was 1.1km. In gauteng we're more used to 500m for this distance.
Weather didn't feel as hot because of all the shade. And the scenery rivaled places like Knysna mtb routes. Organisers were also tops. Glad I made the drive.

For those who survived. Well done. For those who didn't. There's always next year ;-)

That was a long hard day out on the saddle! Had the dubious honour of rolling in last once again, 7:17 lol, but job done and all in a day's work. I missed a few turnings, so did an extra 5 km as a bonus.

Field in the 80 was small, 50 or so,49 of them racing snakes who disappeared down the road once the race started, but I got what I came for, a good day out in the forests and mountains.

The course is serious undulating which results in sense-of=humour loss.  The forest and roads were tinder dry, but the weather was a bit mild so heat was not as bad as it could have been. I drove through a massive rain storm afterwards on the road to Hoedspruit.

I would have liked the route to take on more of  views, one doesn't get the sense of a journey up the mountains like the Sabie Classic of  Barberton, and perhaps some single track in the patched of indigenous forest that remain?  Some ice at the water points would have been great, besides that no complaints, organisation was great.

Told you......now keep it quiet. We don't want the others to spoil it.

No big sponsors involved (is not commercialized)......community driven and that is what makes it special.

Once again a great race. Well organized and fantastic route in "The Mountain". Personally not my best ride. Had a stupid fall over that water pipe at 8 km. Then my legs stayed back in JHB so the hills were slow...

Will be back next year definitely....

Early in the year there is the other Magoebaskloof race that starts in Tzaneen.......and then goes into the mountains. Look out for it.

Tell your legs to stay with the program.......

Awesome experience once again. Started out on the 40km route, but my wife felt a little under the weather, and decided at WP1 to take the 20km (24km) route home instead. Was still a proper and beautiful route home.

And then, later on Saturday, we confirmed my suspicions and the reason for my wife not feeling 100%. She is expecting our 3 rd little bundle of joy!

So overall, fanflippintastic weekend!
