Damaged Fox DHX Air 5.0

Good day guys,

So one Sunday I went out for a ride, did not get far as I noticed my rear shock had bottomed out. Riding on the gravel road before I even got to any trails. Checked the air pressure and it was as I had set it the previous night. 152psi. Thus then I knew something was up... the damn shock was now "STUCK DOWN".

I took the shock down to my lbs, they suggested that they will send it in to Fox to be serviced and sort out this "STUCK DOWN" phenomena.

Cool so a week later, they call back and inform me that Fox has fixed the shock, replacing the seals and all; however bad news....

The main body was damaged and thus leaking air and could possibly have lead to the problem. They will replace the shock body but the cost will be in the range of R 2000...

Now, I need advice. The price would be cheaper if they had a standard main body but they only have a Kashima coated one thus the inflated repair costs. The shock is a 2009 (I think, purchased it 2nd hand) Fox DHX Air 5.0.  Should I go ahead or source out a new shock?

The other thing is... is there another problem that could of lead to the main body of the shock getting damaged or how can a shock body get damaged in such a way as to destroy the seals? As what happened leading to the shock getting stuck down.

I am a noob so sorry if the terms are a little wrong... is the shock body and main body the same thing? (guessing here as they want to replace it with one with a Kashima coat.

Thanks man. So my thoughts about the main body /shock body are the same thing. Cool got it...

Now, how did it  get damaged to the point it leaks air? I inspected the shock body before and after every ride and observed no damage to it (scratches, dents or anything out of the norm).
