Alloy vs Carbon

Hi All

 

Just seeking some advice with regards to upgrading my MTB from Alloy to Carbon. I currently ride a Specialized Epic Comp Alloy 29er (which I love). So my question is - Is carbon fibre really worth the additional spend? If so where would I see the benefit in my riding? Lastly Specialized have a range of Epic models so how far up the food chain do I go? Obviously the S-Works is the pinnacle bike but is that spend really justified?

Law of diminishing returns...find the sweetspot and ride it like its stolen.

Some of my mates went through this. Find the carbon Epic with either X9 or XT components and a normal Reba, not the Brain and you should be plenty happy and still have cash for some of their expensive white shoes and a Prevail helmet. If price is not an issue, get the S Works with an RS1 and you'll have a top bike, until they find another place in the frame for a new tool in the 2017 one...
