Something else to take into account...is fitness level...tits...weight and body shape. When you are new to cycling you tend to "sit" heavy in the seat and spend more sitting be it a mtb or road bike ride....so you crutch gets seriously chaffed and bruised.

Crotch....just saying

OK - you guys just cost me a lot of money! Bought an Assos S7. Hope they are as good as everone says. If it works, where can they be bought cheaper?

That surely depends on how much you paid?

So long as you tried them on...and fit your profile

after getting the mille S5 i thought the Fi 13 would be even. Better...and at the price i couldnt resist getting a spare pair....fitted the Fi 13...certainly isnt suited for my unique physique ....so got another mille instead. At absolute bargain at R1500.

I paid R3300 at Bicycle Co - did try it on, and according to all the manufacturers specs, bought the right size - tight fit, need to crouch a little to fit etc. Plan to use it tomorrow morning so will know afterwards. I really am in search of decent bibs - did the 500km KKK recently and all was fine except the bum-area.

I used the cream supplied the first and second time because i was still damaged goods from my FA shorts...havent used it again.

Make sure you watch the video on how and were to apply the cream...they say you should apply on the back section...but not the front...it must be applied to the chamois and not to the body as i have been doing...oooops...nobody told me otherwise...

its like wearing underpants under your cycling shorts...i wish somebody had warned me about that one...i couldnt walk after my first ride.

if your butt is a tad tender...it is gona burn when you apply the cream

If you put the shorts in the machine...use the bag provided and turn the bib inside out...dont hang them from the straps to dry.

A mistake i make when wearing cycling shorts...i sometimes forget to move the package forward [emoji15]

My comments are made from my own experiences as i am learning from my mistakes.

If you are a cycling short supplier and feel your shorts are better than assos i dare you to give one of the larger framed fellas on this forum a demo...so they can give us some feedback.

Pls tell us where you are getting Mille's @ R1500.?

Went back a few posts and see that it's Solomons clearance, so limited sizes.  :(

Have been using, the following bibs Craft, Spez, Anatomic, Santini, Pearl Azumi and Assos.

Assos is the ultimate best when it comes to comfort and durability.

After reading this thread and doing some research, I planned to get a pair of Assos from Solomons in Dbn for Amashova. Thankfully first went to collect my race pack from Suncoast as there I found the Solomons stall and according to them their last Assos Mille. It was white, it was not clean but it was my size and therefore deserved to be discounted to a reasonable price. Happy days in the saddle now.

the only part of my body which didnt suffer discomfort during the amashova...my butt...once again money well spent...i was out there for a lot longer than most people ;)

I did apply the cream as recommended...it must have also helped.

How did it go???

Used it on Day 1 of the 2-day BergandBush - up Spioenkop. The ride was just short of 4 hours and I NEVER was aware of my butt! Even afterwards, when I though about it, there was no discomfort at my rears. So, am happy. Doing a few MTB rides in the near future, but the final test to me will be the 94.7 Road which I do with a tandem - sitting most of the time. If that is good, I'm buying more, regardless of price.
