Hi All,

A quick one:

Where did you get your straight pull spokes from ?

I had to "straight pull" a jbend spoke ... but thats just to get me riding again ...

I tried the local bike shop, but only had jbends ... so I modified it ... but would like a straight pull one without buying a whole set of 24 ...

I can cut and thread you one, but I only have straight gauge 2 mm at the moment. R20-00.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

Is that price just for the spoke or the nipple included? Sorry if its a stupid question, but I could only get XT straight pull spokes that included the nipple for R90-00 n spoke a while ago when I needed to replace a broken spoke.

What other gauges are there other than 2 mm? And will I be able to use guages other than 2 mm on my XT M775 wheelset?

Just to clarify some things, Shimano sell wheelsets built with their own hubs and spokes.  You can't buy these hubs alone but you can buy spares - like your R90 spoke and nipple.  They also sell hubs for hand built wheels which will usually take a "stock" J bend or straight pull spoke.

On their rims they use a range of Shimano only nipples and spokes, often needing a 5mm hole in the rim as opposed to the usual 4mm and sometimes with some special lock or washer at the other end.

The gauge encountered on most wheel brands is 14 (2mm) with 15 gauge (1.8mm) used less often.  I don't stock 15 gauge at all but you can get them.

As for your wheel you will have to measure the spoke where it goes into the nipple to get the gauge and then measure the nipple shaft diameter.  If the nipple shaft is 4mm you will be able to use any gauge spoke/nipple. Most likely it will be one of their nipples.  If you are lucky a LBS may have a second hand one

Sorry, yet another hijack.

I am busy with a rebuild of a bike from 1954.

I have had no luck finding spokes and nipples.

Spoke length is 256mm

Spoke is Ø2.1mm

Spoke thread is Ø2.35

Nipples are made from Brass either Nickel or Chrome plated.

Would you be able to assist?

No problem.  That would be a standard 14 gauge.  I only stock double butted spokes (J bend) which cost slightly more than straight gauge but are more durable.   Cost includes a nipple.  As you are a neighbour perhaps you should bring the rims and hubs in to double check the lengths as the front and rear will probably be different.
