Hi all,

I have been lurking around for some time now and really like the site. So much so that it has helped be build 2 bikes from scratch. Recently I came across an advert on the local site bidorbuy. Not sure about this but the bicycle has cracked head tube. Now i already placed a bid on it but later the ad was updated and I saw the crack and information about it.

Wondering if its still a good deal? frame is probably scrap but parts might still have some life in them. Any thoughts?

The frame is scrap and the rest very entry level.  You should also budget for the probable expense of a new chain, cassette, jockey wheels, BB, cables and hub servicing.  With a second hand frame of around R1000 this will bring you into the R2500 to R3000 range, which is what you can get a similar bike for.

Stop lurking... I would not touch cracked aluminum, carbon yes.

haha, by lurking I meant my first time posting a forum topic. Thanks for the advice

Contact them and tell them you cancel the bid as the ad was updated after you bid.

The seller guy sounds apprehensive to cancel the bid so I took it up to the site admin/community to assist.
