11x Chains

New to 11x and keen to maximize the life of the expensive X01 cassette.

The obvious solution is to watch the chain stretch and change the chain before 0.5%. 

Now what is your experience in terms of durability of 11x chains. Which brand and model is your preference?

Did some googling and my current favorite is the Wipperman Connex 11SX http://www.connexchain.com/en/product/connex-11sx-englisch.html

XO1 cassette costs R 5115, I have changed to GX cassette at R 2250, but you can get them even cheaper than that if you shop around.

 

The GX chain is also obviously cheaper than the XO1 chain too.

Wipperman make just about the best chains, stick to them if you happy with the price. KMC apparently the defacto workhorse chain and not to expensive. I wouldn't bother with overly pricey "high performance" chains, just get the cheapest decent chain and replace often, ie we'll within wear limits.

Ditto here...X01 cassette lasted me 4000km with 3 different sram chains. I'm told that's reasonable mileage...not to me at 5K per cassette!!

 

On GX cassette now and about to change first chain so keen to follow this topic. Guys at LBS told me to use Shimano chains for best lifespan and value??

there is no GX chain only X1 and up have their own chains.
