I was right behind you - it was spectacular! Made my mind up to wade across, glad you're ok, as it looked sore!
  2. There is a large group that leaves the old Boet Erasmus stadium at 5:10 each morning, and lately it has split into a slower and a faster group and they both go around Marine Drive.. There is also a Tuesday and Thursday group that leaves 8th ave Walmer Caltex and goes down to Summerstrand and does loops of 2nd ave and Admiralty - probably gets to the petrol station at top of 2nd ave around 05;50, where you could wait for them in safety.
  3. I have a Thule hard case, cost R 750 excess baggage each way to Berg and Bush, and you have to keep total weight under 30/32 kilos( can't remember which, BUT not even the airline can damage your bike in that thing! I fit my medium MTB with only seat post and handlebars to come off, pedals and derailleur can stay on. In your picture above I have the one bottom left.
  4. Kudos to those looking after these trails. First time I rode them was this September, on a trip up from PE. Got hopelessly lost first time out, and 2 hours turned into 4, but went back two days later to enjoy the trails again, and got less lost. Ribbok extended must be one of the finest sections of single track I have done, anywhere.
  5. I heard Tulbach is part of it.

Do long hard training rides to prep. Do plenty hill training. There will be at least 5 walks. Most of the tough stuff is in the first half. The second half is mostly dirt roads and rolling hills.
  7. Do 10 X hill repeats from the day visitor car park - quality workout in no time at all!!
  8. I'm excited about the route, its gonna be great riding!! Training and dieting started today!
  9. That would be an awesome Epic, I hope you are correct!!
  10. With less than a month to go till the route launch, anyone heard any rumours about where the route may be heading?
  11. Pedal failure can have catastrophic consequences if it happens at the wrong time. I'd rather buy new pedals. When mine failed, I was lucky there wasn't a vehicle approaching.
  12. Anyone knew if they make a road frame with disc brake compatibility?
