JXV Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 90 kg is not too heavy and 30cm drop on a hardtail is not abusive. Likely a manufacturing fault...or the pedal was loose. Alivio is a decent budget groupset but I agree that a Deore or SLX upgrade would better if warranty replacement does not materialise. No weight limit listed for this crank on Shimano's website

If the crank arm is still straight you could get a hally coil installed and just fit a set of flat pedals. Will give more grip and confidance. You would likely damage your wheels way before anything else if you were too rough. A Xt or Slx crank would be a great upgrade though as they run better bb's and are much stigger and lighter.
