I've heard that - I need to plan a trip there to see for myself!!

Ok ok fine, I admit, I was in a rush this morning so I thought I'd have a breakfast Guinness while I rode to save some time! [emoji23]

Just for some additional info (or reading pleasure) you can have a look at the "Rules" which are mentioned every once in a while.... mostly aimed at roadies but well worth reading and very good entertainment value.

+1 CBC, Boston, Darling Breweries and Longbeach Breweries for the win!

Pm me if you do. Happy to show you around and accompany you on some rides and I know some rad places for breakfast & coffee and lunch that serves really good Craft Beer.

Provided I am in Cape Town and not away working.

Awesome, thanks foe the offer! I'll give you a shout if I make it that side :)

Okay Lexie, now that you are back on the saddle, I challenge you to enter for next year's Cape Town Cycle Tour (previously known as the Cape Argus).

You have ample time to get comfortable on the bike, and to get some fitness going. You will not be sorry, as it is a jol to ride and the scenery can simply not be improved on.

Holy moly are you mad!? That's a crazy long ride!!! Haha let's do some baby steps first ok??

Nope, it only seems like it, I promise. You start slow you will be ready to ride next year. You have 13 months to prepare. More than enough time.

Hahahaha brilliant reading - you, sir, owe me a new keyboard (given that it is now covered in a tasty hot beverage which escaped during a heartfelt laugh)

Hmmm ok we'll see about that. I do enjoy a challenge, but I have set myself a number of hectic sports related challenges for this and next year already... But if I reach the point where I have more faith in my cycling ability, I promise to revisit this proposal! (Big numbers are scary when you've only been an bike twice!)

Thanks for the advice guys!! I was also contemplating just using my camelbak, but I know for longer rides I'll need more than just that, so I'll definitely start practicing drawing the bottle!

In other news, I broke my fall virginity this morning! My chain came off and wacked my leg, and I didn't manage to get both feet out of the baskets in time, so I went toppling over sideways! But I am proud to say that I managed to get the chain back on all by my lonesome (being technically challenged in general, this is a big accomplishment for me!) and rode away with just a couple of roasties and a bruised ego [emoji23]

If you're riding a road bike while using a camelbak you will be eaten alive by the roadies. Apparently there is a code or something.

Haha yeah apparently - I've just read it in "The Rules" as well

So for the foreseeable future, I'm all about balance, bidon, balance and repeat!

:D  :P  :D  Keyboards can be replaced....IT would never send DNA samples of your espresso for analysis....or I hope not!

We use Rule #5 quite often.... ooh that and a concrete pill prescription...

With all the happenings in PE you might just end up doing Tri-Athlons before you know it..

Haha we will continue to hope [emoji23]

Funny you say that, as part of the reason for getting back on the bike was to train for my first triathlon, with the goal being Half Iron Man either in Durban in June this year or East London next year, depending on finances.

That's a very serious goal right there... to start training now for that will keep you rather busy..... You are ideally located though to train everyday.

I wish you all the best in achieving your goal by June... sure will be tough be definitely worth it.

When is your 1st event you've entered?

Yeah at the moment it's more a financial thing that will determine whether or not I can do it in June - I'm fine for the run and swim, the bike is the part that would need the most input in terms of training. So I'm not putting too much pressure on myself yet until I'm comfortable financially and training wise. I have plenty of time still :) on similar thinking, I haven't decided on my first race yet - looking at a few options, but the tri training program that I'm on tends to be focused around doing a few individual races first, so my shorter term goals are some sea races and half-marathons, and will decide on either a bike race or an olympic distance triathlon once I've got my bike confidence :)

Thanks for the support - I'm sure you'll all be subjected to my story-telling of my endeavours along the way! ;)

In IT we wouldn't have to send it for analysis, we would definitely recognise coffee in any form ;)

Haha ok so I'll just bin it and claim from insurance... Or stage a theft?

Hahaha again with the Department of Tourism... Maybe I should apply ;)

It's called Grass Roof Cafe, out in the Sardinia Bay area - https://goo.gl/maps/pviJ628mQyG2

Try their pancakes with bacon & maple syrup - your tastebuds will thank you!

Ahh...good old Sardinia Bay, miss that place, used to be my local hang-out in my younger days...definitely need to visit my hometown again.
