Guys, I'm in the process of packing and moving house today - had a quick squiz over the thread and pics looks awesome!! Will have a proper sit down and reply later [emoji5]

In the mean time, have a little drool over the view from my new bar [emoji6]

Lovely house Lexie! Love the view. I hope that is where you are planning to have all your meals when you're home. Apparently if you have space to spare a few of us wouldn't mind having an Airbnb in PE as evidenced by the below vvvvvvvvvvv.

You have been reported for baiting, inciting envy and just general disregard for what some of us appreciate and hold dear.

You have been warned!!!!!!!

(Disclaimer: Please read the above statement with a big bag of salt close-by).

In other words, when are we invited for drinks? ;) [emoji14]

You gents mean a weekend away right?

Wow Lexie. I hope you work from home .... thats a view worth being jealous of.

and with that in your back yard I'd say DEFINITELY get a mountain bike :)

good luck with the house moving.

You are right Uni, she should get one just like this one:

not wanting to dim the obvious positive vibes and accomplishment from this thread.  just thought i'd put it out there that it's not necessarily a step in the right direction nor sensible to take on the "scary world of main roads and traffic" irrespective of the improvement you have made in terms of your confidence, balance and overall level of skill.

the better cyclist I become, the more I avoid busy roads, intersections and narrow shoulder roads.  I've had some close shaves which got me to a point where I have identified only a handful of routes that I risk to ride with my road bike, and yes, that means that I often drive quite far with my car to get to the start of where I deem it safe to ride.  Holding your line, keeping balance and being alert is only 50% of what will keep you safe and your own actions won't count for much if the driver behind you is typing on whatsapp...

enjoy the riding and stay safe out there!

Sooo, get a mountain bike?

Could be because of the shadow the photo was taken in. Have only had it for a year and the tread is still good. No nicks or cuts in the sidewalls either but will inspect them again when I sign off from my current ship.

I had a pair of Maxxis Crossmarks on my bike. They did not even last a year. Tar eats the tread like nothing I have ever seen. I do a lot of tar riding to the trails in TBMTB, seeing as I stay in Sunningdale. I now have a Vittoria Barzo up front and am fitting a Vittoria Saguaro at the back next week when I return to SA.  Much better tyres with excellent grip.

That Barzo makes the bike feel very grippy and gives me tons of confidence on the trails. Still not sure if that may cause me to go beyond my skills envelope or not...

[edit] - nope, on second inspection of that rear tyre in the pic, It is moeg. You will need to replace that tyre, and the front is not faring much better. If you look at the top of the rear tyre, the part lighted by the sun, you will notice the gap of "slick" between the very flatted center tread and the side-knobs, which are clinging on for dear life. Not even my very very tired looking crossmark is that worn out, and I am sliding all over the place currently when out riding. I have absolutely zero grip on my back wheel.

Ok you've sold me on changing the tyres. What does the Vittoria go for?

Previously also ran Kenda Small block eight's, on a different Silverback, that I enjoyed. Might get a pair of those as well.

You will struggle to get better pricing.

Buddy of mine. Very reputable, and he has an excellent Hub rep as well, which doesn't hurt.

Haha well I was just about to start a new thread that you may find entertaining- it details all the lovely friends I've made since moving into our new house.... Note that I use the word "friends" very lightly here... Watch the off topic chit chat page [emoji6]
