Shoulder Pain

I do get this pain in shoulder more in the joint if I cycle for more than 2:30 hours at high intensity (race conditions). The same side I broke my collar bone three years ago. The pain started after I went for a cycle fit last year prior to the 947 cycle challenge and it was at this race where I felt the pain the first time. Past Saturday again in Berge en Dale classic had the same issue. I would do some short arm swings just to get rid of the pain for a short while.

 

Do I need to do some shoulder strengthening exercises, as I never were told after the operation that I need to do some strengthening exercises?

do u only get it when u race as mentioned above? if so, it could be stress related. do you get it when you do a leisurely ride of more than 2hrs30min?

Shoulder strengthening exercises are the single most beneficial non-cycling exercises I have ever done. Pull-ups, lat pull-downs, xc ski machine, push ups, all to build some shoulder muscle mass. Stronger shoulders with a bit of muscle mass create space for nerves that can get pinched when riding. I also don't get numb hands that often anymore while riding. It's a slog to do, but worth it.

Sparki 1 did a relaxed 2:35 a week ago on the MTB and did not encounter the same symptom.
