Pity riders disappeared when the rain fell, it did not rain long and settled the dust nicely. One thing odd was the first lap there was a log wood ramp you could go over or around, but 2nd lap it was not there.

Hi Scotty

With Cliff and I running around trying to do everything at once on Saturday, I clean forgot to block off the log jump. I did a sweep lap at the back of the field for the 1st lap and closed off access to the jump.

The main reason was to make the route as safe as possible for all cyclists. While you may be able to bunny hop with gay abandon, many, especially beginners, cannot.

Our concern was that 5 hours into the race, a competitor chooses the "wrong line" and we end up with a serious, and unnecessary injury.

Was really a great event. The vibe with the live music was great, food was good, beers not too pricey, a good start for a first event.

But, man o man, that track! No place for hiding, you had to pedal every metre. People knock flat tracks, but it was a great workout, especially on SS.

Rain did a wonderful job of settling down the track and it didn't last too long, so was happy to ride in the it.

is this event going to be a yearly event? or is there going to be another one later in the year?

would really like to give it a try

We are planning to make this a bi-annual event. Autumn and Spring.

We are also considering both shorter daytime events (Golfers not withstanding) as well as a monthly night series similar to the Modderfontein event.

We'll keep you all posted.

Thanks will send the email now to be added, will join the next one.

Hopefully I can get near my coach that, from what I understand, managed to get the highest distance in this race on Saturday.
