Hubbers need help, I know it's not easy to give advice on a specific brand however just need advice.

Going to purchase an mtb tomorrow and been offered the following bikes, but bear in mind I am a first time mtb buyer and rider so it will be a beginner bike and social riding no races etc planned anytime soon.

Silverback spectra comp

Gt timberline expert or pro can't remember exact model

Merida big nine

All of them are hydraulic brakes.

Advice and suggestions please.

Thanks

Hi bud....

For a first bike, rather trust some of the sellers' advice on here.

I started in Sept 2014 and between me and my wife we have changed bikes 3 times EACH! So dont buy new initially, because if it sucks you can sell close to your initial purchase price, if it rocks, you WILL want to upgrade.

In essence what I mean is buy second hand... Just ask for good dels on here.. Post things like your length and proposed riding trails etc on here and guys will help you out soon.

What he said.

But if (for what ever reason),..

Go Silverback as a New Bike,..from experience, NO warranty/after sales issues..(you pay for this,..so pls include it in your Purchase Calc????)

As always thanks guys for this helps when you get good advice like a sigh of relief .

@cpelser that was my initial thoughts and been browsing used bike section some great deals but issue with buying privately is that I don't have option of paying with my c/card then the other thing I notice some bikes are priced few hundred rands as opposed to new so i rather purchase new and get warranty etc from the store.
