Jo'ki Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Hi all So I just recently moved down to Cape Town and will be heading to Jacobsbay area over the long weekend. Obviously taking the bike with... Can anyone tell me if there are any nice routes to ride and if it safe-ish? I'll be riding alone and have never been there Thanks
-cK- Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Hi I don't ride in Jacobs bay that often and not to familiar with all the route possibilities there. Here is however a mash-up of all my routes I did do in that area that you can link up. Jacobs bay being the town in the top left corner http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii13/wacza/Misc/Forum%20Posts/JBay.jpg The best is to head out to I think it is called Danger Bay (not sure) but it is the area between Jacobsbay and Saldanha just after the abandoned runway. There are some dirt roads you can link up. You can also follow the main gravel road/via Danger bay out of Jacobs bay to Saldanha and link up the reserve at SAS. Just be mindful that do take you just next to the informal settlement area. Not my favorite spot to ride by alone. Never had an issue but just not a fan of it. Also the spot you can enter the reserve is sometimes riddled with broken bottle peaces There is also this 18km route I've seen someone I follow on Strava do that takes you to the koppies in Saldanha as well. I have not yet ridden that route though. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii13/wacza/Misc/Forum%20Posts/JBay%2018k.jpg
