What's tougher TDF or cape epic?

I will probably get stick for this but on the day I found Comrades tougher than IronMan ... the training for IronMan on the other hand is tougher!

Just my humble opinion of course

Funny you say that, a friend of mine has done Epic, Iron Man and Comrades and rated the running race as the hardest. To be fair though, he's a competitive cyclist and what I'd call a casual runner, so that could make a big difference in this assessment I'm sure.

The amount of IM tattoos I have seen on calves from the least athletic looking people makes me think Epic is tougher.....

The amount of Epic stickers that I have seen on bikes makes me think that they are harder to remove than tattoos.

Close this silly thread now. The Master (Bennie) has spoken. He subtly dropped that he has done all three and that Comrades is the hardest.

I don't think there is any comparison with the TDF, the professional aspect of it renders comparison pretty useless. That said  - it does look like there are times when a lot of riders seem to be taking it pretty easy...

But what about the Haute Route series. 3 races held back to back, each a week long and each touted as a week of mountain stages. If you did all 3 (which some people do) you'd end up with 2700km and over 60 000m of climbing over three weeks (much of it at altitude). Not bad...

I may have my eye on the 2017 edition...
