2016 Volta Ciclista a Catalunya

Eventually I reached the summit of Alt de Toses at the lonely La Collada hotel located at the top, after 1 h 18 min of climbing.

Took some quick pics before bundling into the car for hot tea and to thaw out my frozen feet.

The plan was to finish the last 3 km into La Molina ski resort, but those last 3 km are mostly downhill. I now fully appreciate what it's like for riders in the Giro on mountains like the Stelvio - it's fine going up, but the moment you head downhill it's the coldest, most painful and miserable experience you could imagine. All that sweat on the climb starts to freeze all over your body and the wind seems to cut straight through to your heart. So of course, I canned that idea very quickly.

Oh and don't give me gears for breaking rule #95. That was a little nod to Spartacus' win at Strade Bianche the week before :D.

Sorry for the novel, Cav'. I'll stop now, I promise ;)

No carry on, I enjoy reading it. (because its cycling related, not like some the other threads on this "cycling" forum  )

Aaaah, brilliant travel diary stuff there, tombeej'

It was summer in France 2015.

The Col de la Croix de Fer was 28 kms or something with an average gradient of just over 5%.

Took nearly 3 hours, with lots of photo moments in between.

Took us just 50 mins to descend.

Giant Shampoo can do with some good news

Eish

He got Flu in Paris Nice and hasn't recovered fully yet.

Lost a lot of time on day one so had no chance of GC anymore.

Yup Giant isn't having the best of luck this season so far (damn old lady)
