As Puncheur said, flex probably occurs in all wheels, but more in some than others.I'm no wheel expert, but it's dependent on a lot more than just the rim. Rim depth, spoke length, spoke type, number of spokes, quality of build all play a role.
Mike Bike Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I have a set of darkhorses, 50mm. Fantastic wheels, look awesome on my bike so the training wheels haven't been used in over a year. I'm 82 kgs, but haven't noticed any flex problems, maybe I'm just a weakling. Did a 3 hr argus on them a few weeks ago. Broke one spoke a while ago but nothing since
Danie Taljaard Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Maybe i've just had bad luck with spokes and hopefully don't experience the same problem in future. Look the wheels look awesome on my TCR, and they roll nicely too. But I have noticed the flex because my back brake pad on the one side is severely worn out, probably 60% more than the one on the other side. Sometimes you can hear the break pad touching the brake surface while riding, not that often though.
