JXV Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I remove the chain to clean it and always mark it to make sure I put it back on same way as it came off. Is this necessary?Some chains are directional. E.g. 10spd XT chain and gears ....supposed to shift better if you fit the flat unmarked side-plates to the inside.
SwissVan Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Failing to see the logic in taking a chain off to clean it better.... and then soaking it in dirty paraffin. Yes i know paraffin has lubricating qualities but we are talking about cleaning.
