Trainer Wheel for 29er

I need to start training a bit more and seeing that winter limits time to be on the actual trails I thought i would get my trainer out the closet again.

I dont want to ruin my knobbles so i was thinking of getting a spare rear wheel and throwing a slick on it.

I was browsing the classifieds and noticed that the 26er rims obviously alot cheaper than a 29er rim.

So my question:

Is there any reason why i wont be able to put a 26er QR rim on my 29er and use it on my trainer with a slick?

Nope. Anything with a 9 x 135 hub will work, as long as there's enough adjustment on the trainer itself.

If you're lucky the bike will even be level without the front wheel block.
