It turns out somewhere along the way my Rockshox SID Brain fork got serviced and converted from 100 mm to 80mm.

The mistake seems to have got lost in the mists of time so its pretty difficult to establish what happened but it was bought as 100 mm but is now 80mm.

So now that I have discovered it i would like to convert it back and get my 20mm back

But i am struggling to get the relevant spares.

So I was just wondering if anyone here knew of a source for Rock Shox spares other than the agents as they haven't got/dont want to get the spares I need.

Its a 2012/2013 SID Brain and I need a 100 mm Dual air spring for it.

If it's a dual air, then I would drop the pressure in  both chambers and pump up only the one  side (can't remember which chamber first ) and see if you get 100mm back as a starting point... then do the other chamber. (droo showed me this, but I can't remember what it means :) )

As far as I can remember those dual air forks had a spacer in to reduce the travel.  Possible that the spacer was re installed on service.  The spacer sits under the top piston - between the rubber bumper and the piston.  If it is there take it out.  As V12man says first check your air settings.  Deflate the -ve side and pump the +ve side to see the maximum travel that you can get. This should indicate if you need to remove a spacer.  Deflate the +ve.  Pump the -ve to about 50 psi.  Then pump the +ve to your normal pressure.  This will increase the -ve pressure at the same time.  Then with the pump on the -ve side you can add or release air to get your desired travel and "feel".  If all is well on the air side there may be a problem with the damper but that is beyond DIY and most workshops.

When I researched the topic I found that Dual Air SIDs and REBAs can be changed between 80, 100 and 120mm by adding/removing spacers in the airspring assembly. A number of Youtube videos out there showing it step by step.

Solo Air require the airshaft to be exchanged (not the entire airspring).

Not sure how the 'Brain' would change this. Since the 'Brain' is a custom valved damper with the famous inertia valve I would assume it doesn't affect the air spring in the other fork leg...but with Specialized one never knows ;)
