Only two weeks before the Karoo to Coast ...... for those NOT racing the Karoo to Coast this is a great way to get some kilos (88km) under the belt. For those that will race the Karoo to Coast this is a great event to gauge your fitness levels beforehand.

There will be wine tasting (Baleia Wines), craft beer, energy drinks stalls and much much more at la Bella Restaurant and Deli for the non-riders. We will also have a jumping castle (with supervision) and there are a host of other shops to browse through.

7Stars Energy Drinks will be in attendance at the Baleia Wines MTB Challenge - each rider (first 250 to enter) will receive one in his goodie bag (some other nice stuff in the goodie bags as well). They will also set-up a display area where you can buy more. http://7starsenergy.co.za/

Mountain Brewing Company will have their Premium Craft beer on sale at the finish as well - nothing like having a great craft beer after a nice MTB ride ! http://www.mountainbrewing.co/

I am not too sure whether you will be getting the numbers you might have thought possible, the time of year is your biggest challenge.

One suggestion would be to move it into the year-end festive season. There are PLENTY Gautengers who go down to the southern cape for the holidays and take their two-wheeled toys along.

Somewhere between the 16th of Dec and the start of the school-year will be your best bet. It doesn't even need to be on a weekend, most of your riders in that time of year is on holiday, so a midweek race is actually viable.

Good luck with the inaugural race.

Tx Rookie - this race is 2 weeks before the Karoo 2 Coast and we have riders that do this to gauge themselves ito fitness. The last 2 years this date was used by Al-2-Hez MTB but they not running the event this year - hence we took the date.

We have a race in dec in Stilbaai (holiday) and also one in March / April (holiday) which attract a lot of holidaymakers.

I will be there, why, because it's close by and flattish for the 40 km, almost like cycling in the Freestate I guess/hope.

We'll also be "launching" (first release as they call it) their Rose on Saturday - bottles only getting their labels tomorrow. To crown this you'll ride right past the actual vines where the Rose's grapes were grown.

Weather looks like it's going to play along and we'll get a perfect sunshine day !

Man I am so disappointed.

Came all the way from CT (with a new bike) to ride this, but Mother nature has other plans.

Mountain bikers cry...., farmers smile.

With all this rain, I am going to bale.

Do not feel like a mud fest.

Sorry GOC.

Did the Al-2-Hez last year and loved it.

Was so looking forward to this.....

If weather permits, I will try again next year.

I'm with you on this one, I wanted to do it so much as well, even phoned this morning to hear about the rain and they said that this morning it was still dryish. But next time definitely.
