My rdr is skew. Changed the hanger. Still skew. Didny really fall very hard. In fact, i dont know what happened. It still shifts but pulleys and chain are misaligned leading to unhealthy noise and friction.

Bike was upside down when pic was taken. Note skew cage - the black thing farr right is also skew. Making me think its somewhere in the part that hinges. These derailleurs are black magic i tell you

Look like your cage is bent you can tri and bent it your self with a shifting spanner or take it to your bike shop good mechanics should be able to sort it out for you had to do it my self for some of my clients

Most likely, the derailleur hanger needs to be aligned. New hangers sometimes need alignment too since frames are not perfect, especially one which has taken a fall. You probably don't have the special tool but a large shifting spanner and some trial and error will do. There are some videos on youtube which will demonstrate how to do it.

RD is bent. Sometimes they bend in a crash even though the hanger is supposed to protect them by bending or breaking 1st.

It does look like the cage is twisted. What RD is it - some have a link between hanger and body that can get bent. My XT 10spd did this and a new link sorted it. Still shifting perfectly a year later.

Try and borrow a new or known good used rd - that will tell you if the new hanger is good or not..

Thanks all, will have another go. I have another new hanger that i could also try. Did have a look at the link between cage and body, but it looks fine. Perhaps i could remove cage and try to bend it better. Will have to wait till the weekend so i can bum an rd off a friend to see if a different one works.
