Enduro / All Mountain Events Beginner?

Hi there,

 

I have been riding for a few years road first now more recently mtb. New bike giant trance, skills and fitness improving well enough. Was wondering what races or events would be good for someone who has never done an event before? I ride single track, can't do big jumps and that but there must be manageable events in the Western Cape. Stay in Cape Town. Interested in more Enduro style events rather than long XC ones but any tips and info appreciated. Websites anything. Found a few event listings but since I'm just starting out I'm not too sure what they are like based on the name and course info.

First things first. Do you own a pair of Five Ten's and have you burned all your lycra?

Honestly though, Dirtopia's Enduro races are great. Not too gnarly at all (allthough the next one is at Helderberg). Since I've started doing enduro races I have lost all interest in XC races. It's just so much more fun and there's a lekker vibe. None of that "Keep your line", "Rider passing" crap. Guys are just all out having a good time.

WP Enduro and Dirtopia Enduro series. Suitable for most... you may need to take it slow at first but it's a good place to start!

 

Otherwise ride ride ride. Jonkers, hoogekraal, contermanskloof.

 

Go to one of the CT skills classes with Dan Dobinson, Julien Louw or Chris Nixon
