The Rectron's first annual MTB Challenge is brought to you in support of St Luke's Hospice, who are humble in their mission and determined in their undertaking to Hold the Hearts and Hands of patients and their families through the final stages of this life.

  • Boschendal has long been famous for its generous picnic baskets enjoyed on the spacious estate lawns, and during the warm summer months the estate gardens provide the perfect setting for a picnic lunch in the shadow of the Simonsberg. Their classic Boschendal full service picnic is located on the Rhone lawns adjacent to the Rhone Homestead, Cellar Door and Winery. This area is the wine-making and wine-tasting hub of Boschendal. Rhone Picnic baskets can be enjoyed at carefully-laid out tables or on a picnic blanket under the shade.
    
  • Rhone picnic baskets include food made from our natural farm produce including delicate pates, freshly baked bread, three delicious salads, our classic coronation chicken, a selection of cold meats, homemade whole grain mustard mayo, artisan cheeses and one of our celebrated desserts.

IMPORTANT TERMS & CONDITIONS

• No helmet, no ride.
  
• No children u/15 allowed on the 21km intermediate and 40km advance races, due to trail technicality.
  
• All children u/10 taking part in the fun ride, must be accompanied by an adult.
  
• Do not attempt to take part in the Downhill Challenge, unless you possess the necessary skill to do so safely.
  
• Start times may change depending on final amount of entries per race.
  
• Race results pulled at 12:00pm on the day, will be considered final and used for the prize giving.
  
• Any result queries needs to be brought to the attention of a Great-Time representative before 12:00pm on the day.
  
• Prizes selected for podium positions, challenge winners and lucky draws are at the discretion of the sponsors and organizers.
  
• No timing results and podium prizes will be available on the fun ride.
  
• Only the first 500 online entries will receive a jam packed goodie bag.
  
• Online Entries close on Wednesday, 5th October 2016 @ 23:59
  
• No late entries will be accepted.
  
• All participants & attendees acknowledge and agree that participation in/ attending of the above event is/could be dangerous and could result in physical injury and or damage to property. That participation is at their sole and absolute risk. Did the 40km and it was perfect. Honestly 10/10! I normally do the long routes (60km and up) this 40k however lived up to being the long route.

Well done for an excellent race Rectron. 

 

If you did not do this race, you missed out big time. What with doing Inferno, Sugar Bowl and Porcupine all in one race. Not sure what the name of the ST is just above Inferno with the hectic berms.

 

I usually do the 40km races, so this was quite a step-up for me with regards to the climbing and technical nature of the ST.

 

They even had bottled water at the water points.

 

I will not post my time. My legs were shot on the last climb.

Agreed, second event ever after my first Fedhealth 65km and really worth it. First time riding that single track had a blast! Will be back next year!

No. Went home to get a nice hearty brunch made by my wife. The lucky draw was way too late. Did not want to wait 2 hours for that.

Good. I went home, showered and then me, the wife and 4yr old went back for the picnic effect. Total waste of time and money. At least the ride was epic and well worth the money,
