Why' date=' Deamon?  I'm asking as I don't know too much about Mtbiking[/quote']

Firstly frame geometry, more setup for heavy all mountain / light freeride use.

The frame is heavy.

Platform pedals - again, the more freeride side of mtbing

Bomber fork - it's a all mountain / freeride fork

Short stubby stem - again freeride orientated, to get your weight back

The chainguide in the front, although I don't know why he did it like that as he's got a normal triple there, but no front mech. Usually you would set it up, no front mech, bashring and one blade with a chain tensinor.

The coil shock in the back.

DH crankset - heavy, but abuser friendly ;)

I suppose if you REALLY, REALLY want to you can ride the bike a a XC bike, but you will suffer...ALOT..especially on the climbs, compared to a XC bike.
