Spank Spoon Front hub bearing removal

I need to replace the bearings on the front hub but cannot get to the bearings.

Pulled out the adaptors but there are locating rings that should come out too.

How do these rings get removed?

Are they threaded or press fitted.?

I think yours is the same as some of the Novatec front hubs.  If so the "rings" you refer to are to allow a number of end cap options. Use a blind hole puller to pull the bearing and the ring out together.  

 

You may be able to pull the ring on its own with the puller but I have found that you can scratch the finish on the rings.

 

If yours is significantly different to what I have described post a pic.

The cover wedges out with a pipe of same diameter as opening. Vid Youtube explaining this.

Do what most people do to change bearings....use a big hammer....

 

 

 

 

 

Just kidding, don't do that, use a puller and press, it never ceases to amaze me how many hubs/axles I have seen that have been beaten into submission and then the client wonders why the bearings have play/the hub cracks etc...
