Most suspensions take planning to DIY service. Its usually the odd tools required, odd sized spanners etc. My biggest Grip atm is the need for crowfoot's to torq shafts on a Reverb.

True. It's always a bit of a pickle. It sucks to buy a tool that you might use once or twice a year, but it makes your life so much easier than some bodged tool.

:)

I dislike prices of service tools designed weak or just priced to avoid you servicing things yourself.

Also dislike the price of service kits!

Priced the O-rings for a Reverb (No bushes or foamrings/Stantion seal) R100

Service Kit I would guess around R800-900

Makes me sad when bicycle parts cost this much.

Im with you on that. Managed to get oil seals for my Marzocchi 66 @ R25 a seal off ebay, and o rings from bearing man (10 sets) for about R10. Scary how overpriced sercive kits are.

The only difficult things to source is usually the dust wipers/stanction seals and foam rings. Pity you cant find decently priced aftermarket alternatives.

Dust wipers you have no option. Do take into account even those forks that do have aftermarket Wipers available, Charge significant amounts for them.

Foam Rings i'm of opinion these is a mattress with the correct density out there and ill carry my X-Acto Knife for such a oppertunity

Had that same idea for foam rings. Have to look through Sondor's catalog for the "right" foam

Dust wipers come with foam rings as part of the kit, no need to DIY. If your foam rings are shot, so are your wipers - it's pointless replacing foam rings only.

Quick update.

Spent the better part of Friday night servicing the fork and it seems to be working like a charm now. The stiction is gone and the fork moves into its travel a lot easier. Very nice and smooth now. Was still a bloody oily mess, but I was a bit better prepared this time round.

As for the DBC cartridge, I managed to sort that. The process is exactly the same as in that video, all though it's two different units.

Having gone through this process, it's actually clear that the fork is actually dead simple to service. It just takes some research, planning and a lot of patience.

Maybe in Jan I'll replace the seals. Will see how that goes.

Hey bud did you manage to get seals for your 350 . I'm looking at ordering some SKF's for my NCR350 .

Seals are still fresh, so didn't have to buy any.

Future civilisations will find mint condition Marzo seals alongside fossilized duck face selfies and Donald's wig collection in archaeological digs.

They just don't die.
