3 x 10 Front Derailleur on 9x set up

so I.ve finally gotten around to getting myself a dual Suspension MTB (Scott genius 50) No Pic until i've ridden it. I need a front derailleur E Type bolt on QUESTION will a 3 x10  work or do I need to get a 3x9

yes it will .....ask yourself why won't it?

 

they have nothing to do with the rear der.

Your chain width on 9 is different to 10.  The width of the FD cage is narrower on the 10 so get the real thing or else you are going to struggle to get your settings perfect.  It can be worked around but not 100%.
