Scott Speedster 30 vs Merida Scultura 100

I am looking at buying my first road bike and was looking at these two options:

 

Scott Speedster 30;

Merida Scultura 100.

 

I am a bit clueless regarding the specifications of each! Which one would be a better buy, or if there are any other options available, I have a budget of about R12 000.

I haven't had a chance to check the specs, but if my memory serves me correct, the Scott has Tiagra parts and the Merida has Claris. If I am correct, the Scott would be infinitely better.

 

Tiagra is 10 speed and will have much better shifting quality than the heavier 8 speed Claris.

 

I assume that these bikes are new.

Would the Scott then be a decent first road bike to buy, or do you perhaps know of other bicycles, budget of about R10k - R15k?

If you can try and get a 2016 Scott Speedster 30.

2017 models have down graded the groupset
