Would Say perfect conditions was the biggest factor and maybe the fact that the pace wasn't high enough to drop the really tired guys.

 

Funny thing is , I actually went next to one of my friends and told him, group is very frisky and as I did this a guy just took a gap in front causing me to actually drift a little as I locked up my rears, a few minutes later the exact thing happen again, only this time nothing I could do to avoid it as I was boxed in and took out my front wheel.

Yeah pace only got hot 7km to go so the majority still had fresh legs .... that's what they thought

 

100 odd bunch turned quickly to 30 in the last 2km...
