Any idea if the Atta route is solely on private property or mixed bag; especially segment from Groot Brak, crossing R328?

Will be in this area most of December and keen to at least do segments of it.

From WP3 it is all district road to the finish except for a small part near WP 4. And this you can work around.

I'm going to explain this backwards , from Grootbrak to Bonniedale.

The finish at Pine Creek is through a short residents only sort of road. If you can't start there do this .

Pass the front entrance in Amy Searle str. Turn first right into Botha. Looks dodge but it's ok.

Tar becomes gravel. (Short paved rd to finish is on your right ,go past )steep uphill . This is Blesbok rd. (Yellow rd marked 4.6 km just above Grootbrak dot.)

About 2 km you come to a crossing. Go left. (not shown on map as a crossing ,the other rds are minor)

2 KM you hit tar, turn right.  1 KM left on Kleinplasie sign  (Klein Sorgfontein on map), gravel. Game fence both sides.

About 8 km few houses turn left into big dipper. This is also WP 5.

Cross the Beneke river up the other side and join the "main" still gravel rd.

Head Northwest past the Leeukloof turnoff to the tar R328.

Turn right  and  after 1.5 km left at Ruiterbos school. Haelkraal sign.

About 7 km small river. This is more or less where the Atta comes out after Wp 4. Thats private.

Carry on straight up a very steep hill.

Bonniedale turnoff on right. The red Asterisk on the map is the turnoff , road not on this map. If you turn WP 4 is a km or four  on the right . The Bonniedale farm WP 3 is about 20km north. All rideable road.

Map is available on Mosselbay MTB or something. Nice routes . You will enjoy.

Hope I made sense. My best effort I'm so Tech challenged. All distances approx.

Edit: The Bottlierskop rd is closed . From the south you can only go up to the main complex . 3 or 4 kms. From the north , Klein Sorgfontein side also closed.

And from the top of Hartebeeskuil dam to Zingela there are locks on the gates that can be opened, but it's also game farm. Never done that.

A very testing route for the legs ,all on good roads would be:

Grootbrak , Klein Sorgfontein, Friemersheim, Pinegrove loop. Back South  into Big Dipper. R328 Left into Haelkraal. Up a hell of a hill past Bonniedale turnoff , to Brandwag. Right onto 328 .Left at Geelbeks vlei.

Back to Klein- Grootbrak. 90 To 95 kms with plenty of climbing.

Consider entering the Monties cycles 70 km on 26 Dec . Very good prep for this race. Start is in Hartenbos. Not same route. But some steep climbs and technical sections.

its on the list for sure; want to drive out and try and do those middle sections; know the roads around groot brak pretty well. But the mid section I heard is the tough nut.

Sorry I think I gave a bit of useless info there. I think the "mid section" you are referring to is the part between WP 2 and 3. You cross the R 328 for the 1 st time at WP 2 . But then you are still on the inland side of the mountain and heading west to WP 3. All this in reserve or private land, or so it seemed. But that is the hardest part.
I think people at Bonniedale farm could give advice. They have 4x4 routes. Some could overlap.
Will be my 2nd and I'm more worried than last year.
