Road bike with flat bars - what do you think?

I see more and more of these road bikes with flat bars. I never owned a road bike , but I kind of like the idea of a flat bar on a road bike.

I actually have one, a Giant Fastroad. I got it as I'm not getting any younger and I was getting some lower back pain from my drop handlebar road bike and thought a more upright position would help. I personally think that it's fantastic, comfortable and pretty fast. The downside is the lack of positions to put your hands, where dropped handlebars definately have an advantage on long rides.
