  1. Glad I read this thread as the PPA email was in my Spam folder. Looking forward to number 14.
  2. I would love to do something like that. Perhaps when I retire. There is an organized cycle tour, the Tour d'Afrique. The last time i looked it cost about $10 000 and I see the 2024 trip is already booked out
  3. I have the same issue, but this just got posted on their bookface feed: “With so much excitement around this year’s event our call centre is currently experiencing high volumes. If you’re a PPA member and struggling to get through, mail us at info@cycletour.co.za and we’ll get back to you ASAP. We are also aware of the payment confirmation ‘time out’ issue: Don’t worry, your status will be updated later if your payment has been successful.”
  4. Fair enough, but 52000 miles (or R5200 per year) for doing something I do anyway is not to be sneezed at (especially in COVID times )
  5. Not sure if this was covered in the Captains posts "We are excited to let you know that as of 3 October 2020, Vitality Health and Vitality Drive members who are also qualifying Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money can now earn even more Discovery Miles when getting active and driving well. You can earn up to 1 Discovery Mile for every 1 Vitality Health fitness or Vitality Drive point you earn weekly. What this means is that you could earn over 60 000 Discovery Miles a year for getting active and driving well, weekly."
  6. If you have, then don’t worry. The world can always do with more Radiohead.
  7. Isolation by Joy Division. Somehow appropriate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Mz5AEgE24o
  8. Absolutely. The big clubs will survive, of course. I suspect though that there are some Championship, league 2 and 3 clubs that will go to the wall in the next year because of this.
  9. For me the empty stadiums show how important crowds are to enjoying sport, even on TV. I watched some of the PSG Dortmund game and a couple of others without crowds present and it was weirdly unemployable. Hopefully owners will realize that, and stop being as exploitative of fans. Some hope I know.
  10. Premier league suspended to 03 April https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/mar/13/premier-league-and-football-league-suspended-until-4-april-coronavirus Bowing to reality I guess, but the right decision.
  11. At least until we die. What is a solution heer though. I reckon postpone Euro 2020 to 2021 and try and finish the leagues/cups in June/July with the hope that Coronavirus is under control by then. Or just wipe this year off with no champion and start again next year. That would be very amusing for non Liverpool fans, but a bit unfair.
  12. Well I read a piece by a random dude in the interweb (which must mean they are en expert) who said that coronavirus definitely possibly came from drinking tiger milk whilst standing on a hill so......yeah.
  13. I for one welcome our avian overlords.
  14. Don’t worry about that in future. After the U19 World Cup we will probably be raiding Bangladesh for recruits, not the Proteas .
  15. Oy buy 20 R50 Takelot vouchers to buy something, its idiotic. They could just get 1 point for every R50 spent, but then i guess it would be far easier to get an extra play every week.
  16. I have a Polar watch via the device booster. I got 15% back the next month and i get (I think) 50% back over the next 2 years, so in total a 65% discount. You have to make sure that you hit your exercise goals every week though to get the 50% back over 2 years. I don't find that an issue, but i can imagine others might. Speaking of that, off to gym ......
  17. And Quinton is named ODI captain: https://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/EnglandinSA/de-kock-replaces-du-plessis-as-proteas-odi-captain-20200121 Ill be interested to see how he copes as wicket-keeper/batsman/captain. Its a lot of responsibility.
  18. Theer will be some sponsorship form Medihelp and possible others. Not sure if thet will cover the difference of course.
  19. Just went out for a bit on the R44 out towards Klapmuts and back. Glad I was on my mountain bike, lots if standing water and occasional strong sidewind gusts. It started hailing at some point, so I regretted not wearing gloves. Glad I’m back in the warmth now.
  20. Wind has also dropped in Stellies. Forecast is that it will get up again later though.
  21. Still haven’t received the SMS. They clearly knew I had decided to stay in bed and didn’t want to wake me.
  22. I’m in 3a, but then I’m overweight and slow. Mind you it helps stabilize the bike in the wind.
  23. PPA are pretty incompetent. I keep getting adverts to enter this in my Facebook feed and every time the link it to another event. Or maybe they just want me to enter the CTCT MTB event by mistake.
  24. From my side It was a reasons to switch to the bank as I reckoned that I could pay the bank fees off with extra rewards. I still think I can do that, but I need to get a credit card from them and they aren't taking new applications at the moment.
  25. Apologies if this has been posted before, but its the first time I have seen information up on the Discovery website about how to access the boosted rewards that are part of the bank package. It seems incredible complicated, but essentially the more you spend the more rewards you get back. For example, I have a Platinum account and can get up to 25% extra on my healthy food it I spend more than R25k in a month if I have Diamond money status.
