I thought i would help my daughter by giving her a lift back to the car on my bike...in turned into a 3 day hospital visit...xrays...mri scan...and 6 weeks in a moon boot...all trust in dad...gone.

i finished a long ride and met my wife and daughter at the beach...my daughter had been playing in the water and running around on the beach so got a bit of rash... it was burning her as she walked.

i told her jump on and i would give her a lift back to the car...i was kitted out including helmet...one foot clipped into the pedal and the other unclipped...using it to push us forward...my wife was walking next to us...as we went down a slight ramp we picked up a little speed so i lifted my foot holding on the brakes...a second later i was on my back...i looked up and saw the foot jammed between the spokes and fork...tried to pull her foot out but it was stuck properly...i had to turn the wheel to get it out.

NEVER PUT A CHILD ON THE CROSSBAR OF A BICYCLE...EVEN IF YOU ARE ONLY TRAVELLING AT WALKING SPEED...ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE BLADED SPOKES.

i would hate to know how bad the damage would have been had we been travelling faster.
