I don't usually poo on bike but thx haha, Seems like I am on the right track, I will change my training up for the Argus and see what happens, will increase weekend rides to 125-140km+- and concentrate on my intensity and changing up my midweek rides too.

Will give feedback after race and include what I changed etc.

...and carry about 150ml's of pickle brine for the cramps till you sort yourself out.

Heard about that trick haha, they also suggest Cayene tablets, they reckon it has similar affects to the brine.

I'd add intensity rather than the longer rides. You want to be fresh when you do your higher intensity training, so recovery will be better for you than increasing your long rides.

I'd add the new intervals, keep the long rides, see how you feel and how you cope with the extra load and then only increase the distance on your long rides.

My fairly unqualified opinion, just listen to my really good coach.

Got the same problem. Tried all the supplements. Even tried to convince my cardiologist last week to take me off simvastatin's. Got a long lecture on new studies that basically proves everything wrong we thought we knew about supplements and cramping. All boils down to conditioning your muscles. Unfortunately the guys telling you to up your intensity has a point. Train like you race.

I also struggle with cramps when races come around thanks to pushing that little bit harder..

What frustrates me is that I keep reading about the old LSD training method, staying in the lower conditioning heart rate zones, low power zones on the bike for longer rides, etc.

So I'm also still exploring how to train on long rides (especially as I usually need to run afterwards)

One of the best formula for the average cyclist:

One looooong ride in the week focusing on endurance (zone 2)

2-3 shorter rides combining tempo pace (zone 3) and at 'I can only talk in phrases' pace (zone 4)

Just an idea to use loosely
