If you really want something and aren't sure whether your dibs call will cut it then phoning the seller is often really helpful. They get a better sense of who you are, how much you actually want the item(s), and whether you're trustworthy.

 

In my limited experience, most hubbers go out of their way to help buyers out. It's a great feeling selling something to someone who is excited to put it to good use. And as everyone says, the rating system is there to record these sorts of things.
