Hi

Where's the best place to get wheels re-spoked.

Just I know there are wheel builders & then there are wheel builders.

Shot guys.

I'll let others recommend someone.

But: People over-think the building of a wheel. There are dos and there are donts. There is no magic involved and its fairly quick to do. It is something anyone can do if the recipe is followed. (the recipe is available easily online). Give it a try its quite fun.

Yah that is asking for trouble for me to do it myself will end up with some other issue for sure.

I just need to replace nipples as mine keep braking.

But suppose will need to replace some spokes too.

Just I have found depending on where you take your bike spokes end up coming back with so many different tensions, would be great to find one place that does it right first time, will help avoid more broken nipples & spokes.

You keen to take on the challenge yourselves Matt? :)

lacing a wheel is easy

tensioning a wheel is where you muck it up

any reputable LBS will build you a decent wheel for about R250 (excl parts)

don't always assume that small and cheaper is a good a idea with wheels

they all charge about the same and the place with a long reputation will do a better job that you can go back to if there are problems

Yip 100% agree lacing is easy, tensioning requires bit of knowledge. Ya I have decent wheels on my Epic but think the alu nipples cant handle the beating I am giving them :)

Cool hopefully soemone will put a few names out there from experience

I'll do it, with a guarantee against spoke breakage if there are 28 or more spokes per wheel. Brass nipples so they won't corrode and Spokeprep so they won't come undone.

I'm guessing Rovals?
