Is it possible to convert a shimano 142x12 rear hub to 135 x12

(I'd rebuild with a proper convertible hub, but I don't like Shimano so I'm biased.)

yeah, I don't think I'd even be comfortable doing that without measuring a billion times first. 

 

Much easier to just buy a new hub or sell the wheelset and build up a custom one. 

 

Or - if the old hub has the same spoke count, do a switcheroo. 

 

But custom wheelset gets my vote.

I took the axle and the nut to a engineering place and they took 3.5mm off each side. Fits perfectly now the cassette and disc did not move lines up fine. For R80 definitely worth it.
