Ride the Berg

My wife and i just finished the Ride the Berg race over the weekend. Its a race that single track lovers should have on their bucket list, and if not, then a place that you should visit regularly to enjoy the tracks that have been laid out. I can honestly say that I loved every moment of it, be it a gruelling climb upto the Cavern and Montusi Lodge, the flowing Grotto trail or the backdrop of the Amphitheatre. TREAD magazine often runs articles about the trails on offer by All-Out-Adventures, and they are not overstating how spectacular they are. These are trails that have been tirelessly worked on for 10 years, and I would rate as some of the best in SA. There was no shortage of talent with some of SA's top pros in the field ... always nice to rub shoulders with them... and ages all out to Grand Masters category. So just my 10c worth but if you enjoy your mtb maybe its worth checking it out?

I was fortunately given an entry into this ride and honestly came away very impressed with trails that are really good. Some very tough sections for a weekend warrior and when the wind blows it really blows through the valleys. Scenery is spectacular. Thought the race a pricey but as I did not pay for it or accommodation an absolute bargain for me. Really worth a visit to ride the trails in the area at anytime of the year.
