This being my fifth start and having had four good weather rides I am just expecting the worst.

Why did you have to put this out in the universe? Was hoping for good weather again. Last year we missed the snow by a week.

It was a smooth road and maybe its stupidity hence the question about speed and load ratings.

We have so may great places to ride just depends where you what to base yourself. Kaarkloof - Howick Insingizi - Mid Illovo Holla Trails - Ballito Virginia Farms - Eston Baynesfield - Midlands Rocky Bay (Not sure if its all been reopened after the floods yet) Park Rynie Have a look at all of them and decide from there. This is not a complete list by any stretch just the ones I really like riding.

I have a 38 up front and an 11 at the back but ran out of revs long before we got to 85. It was a very long downhill just outside Underberg.

My story is very similar the only things I did was ride my bike and start entering some of the local races. By entering even the short distances I always had something to ride for not just an amble around the block. It also helps when you have mates that are much better cyclists but have the patience to wait and coach as one progresses.

Is there markings on MTB tyres that indicate maximum load and speeds? Previous weekend clocked 85km/h and after the fact wondered if the tyres should be ridden at these speeds, bearing in mind I'm not the lightest person around.

I would like to offer my services to test this bicycle in the real world of a weekend warrior who does not have the skill or finesse of serious athletes. What I do have is the ability to test a bike thoroughly with added weight and a belief that I can ride anywhere just not that fast. I also don't have a mechanic on call with a truck full of spares so we have to actually look after things and keep them running properly on a budget. Hope to hear from you before the Transbaviaans.

I was fortunately given an entry into this ride and honestly came away very impressed with trails that are really good. Some very tough sections for a weekend warrior and when the wind blows it really blows through the valleys. Scenery is spectacular. Thought the race a pricey but as I did not pay for it or accommodation an absolute bargain for me. Really worth a visit to ride the trails in the area at anytime of the year.

Help please. I took advantage of the CWC offer and bought the 11 speed XT upgrade combo. Everything installed easily enough and surprise surprise it all works well. Shifter seems clunkier than the XT 10 spd I took off but nothing that makes me nervous. Problem comes about when pedaling hard in the chain slips when in the small gears especially the 11 tooth. Is the chain to lose or is the derailleur not set correctly? Thanks in advance.
