The Evolution of the Bicycle

Hi guys. I need help finding a proper history book. We recently started with the amazing hobby of collecting old bicycles. We just added an old fold up bike to the collection but struggled to figure out the manufacture date. Can anyone recommend a really good book that explains the evolution of the bicycle? With a wide range of bicylces and lots of pictures so we can more or less find dates for our bikes? This will be a Christmas present for my fiance.

I don't have an answer for you, but would love to add a question to your research. 

 

I have been deeply curious about the origin of the "standard" bicycle wheel size of approx 700C.  When are where did this wheel diameter originate?  I doodled many work hours on the interweb with no success.  If this comes up in your findings, please post about it
